इंफाल: मणिपुर के मुख्यमंत्री एन बीरेन सिंह ने रविवार शाम अपना इस्तीफा राज्यपाल अजय कुमार भल्ला को सौंप दिया। राज्यपाल ने उनका इस्तीफा स्वीकार कर लिया है और उन्हें कार्यवाहक मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में पद संभालने के लिए कहा है।
एन बीरेन सिंह पर राज्य में पिछले 21 महीनों से जारी हिंसा के कारण भारी दबाव था। इसके चलते विपक्षी पार्टियां लगातार एनडीए सरकार से जवाब मांग रही थीं।
इस्तीफे से पहले बीरेन सिंह ने रविवार सुबह दिल्ली में केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह से मुलाकात की थी। इस मुलाकात के बाद उन्होंने अपने पद से हटने का फैसला किया।
अब मणिपुर के नए मुख्यमंत्री के चयन को लेकर जल्द ही फैसला होने की संभावना है। माना जा रहा है कि एक-दो दिन में भाजपा नेतृत्व नया मुख्यमंत्री तय करेगा।
